2011 Detroit Pride Fest
Central United Methodist Church members staffed an information booth at Pride-Fest in Hart Plaza June 4th.
2011 Annual Conference Rainbow Ops (pictures)
May 19th, members of Central UMC-Detroit participated in our first "Rainbow-Ops" event at the Detroit UMC Annual Conference in Adrian, MI. Rainbow swag - 100 liturgical stoles made of rainbow fabric, rainbow banners, rainbow-ribbon crosses - and Social Justice slates were distributed to delegates. This Conference action contributed to passing a Resolution calling for striking offensive "incompatible with Christian teachings" language from UMC doctrine, as well as to electing progressive ministers and laypeople to the upcoming National Conference.
